This allows participation as an Officer with the Air Force branch of the United States military without the concern for being forced to deploy out of the country or for disruption of your local practice. This position would give you credit for professional experience to possibly start your service as a Captain or Major, or even higher if you have a significant number of years of professional experience. It also comes with a $30,000 a year bonus each year for three years in addition to your standard pay. Our Medical Group meets during the first weekend of the month, and in the past twenty years the Public Health Officer has never been forced to deploy out of the country. But if someone has interest in working abroad, there are opportunities for short 1-2 week trips that often focus on humanitarian aid to underdeveloped countries. But these are purely voluntary. The position does not involve clinical work, but rather is there to give guidance on Public Health matters, and training is provided to ensure a good understanding of the position duties. We have a great group of 40+ motivated members at our Medical Group, all of the highest quality and great to work with. You would have the enjoyment of working with a diverse group in a cross-functional team that monitors the health of our local base population of about 900 people, as well as prepare them for deploying on specific missions if they are doing that. Midwest Veterinary Referral Center (MVRC) is a multi-specialty referral hospital providing daytime specialty care in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Nutrition and Critical Care.
