Proposed Rule Change to Practice Act

The Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (DPR) has recently published a proposed rule change in the Illinois Register (dated 12/19/03) to amend the veterinary practice act to recognize the Program for Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE) for graduates of non-accredited schools/colleges of veterinary medicine. Please see:

Annual Convention Closing In

Help make the ISVMA Convention a SUCCESS! Call a colleague that normally doesnít attend convention and encourage her/him to attend this year. There are many exciting changes and some high quality program options. The early registration deadline of January 20th is fast approaching. Hotel reservations should be made at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest (888) 627-8093. Ask for the ISVMA discount so your room applies to our contract requirement!

ISVMA Website A Huge Hit

In the three weeks that the new ISVMA Website has been on line, weíve received 10 member applications and had another 12 people register for the convention on line. If you havenít registered for convention yet, you may want to fill out the on line registration form! Itís easy and readily accessible to members and non-members alike.

In the next few months, we plan to add a service to veterinary clients. They will be able to click on an Illinois map and get a list of all ISVMA member veterinarians in their county. This is a great service to animal owners and to ISVMA members!

If you have other ideas for the website, please feel free to contact Peter Weber at peter@isvma.org.
